Getting There

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is one of the busiest airports in Spain, handling around 29 million passengers a year. It is located 8 kilometres east of the city centre. From the airport, bus line 1 runs to the city centre (Plaça d'Espanya) every 15 minutes for around €5, taking about 30 minutes. Taxis to the city centre cost around €20–25.

Ferries connect Palma to Barcelona (approximately 8 hours overnight, or 4 hours on the fast ferry), Valencia (around 8 hours), and Ibiza (around 2.5 hours). Trasmediterranea and Baleària Lines operate the main routes; the ferry terminal is in the port, a short walk or bus ride from the old town. Ferry travel is popular with Spanish families taking cars to the island; book in advance for summer travel.
