Celler Sa Premsa

Celler Sa Premsa is the most famous of Palma's old-style cellar restaurants and has been feeding the city since 1958. The dining room is enormous — high vaulted ceilings, long wooden tables, walls lined with enormous wine barrels — and the atmosphere is convivial in the way of a place that takes its cooking seriously but not itself. This is traditional Mallorcan food: frit mallorquí, roast suckling pig, lamb, and the kind of Mallorcan stews that require patience and a proper kitchen.

The prices are reasonable for the quality and the portions are generous. The wine list is predominantly Spanish, with good local Mallorcan wines and a focus on value. Reserve in advance for dinner; lunch without a reservation is usually possible if you arrive promptly. Located near the Plaça del Mercat. Closed Sundays.
