Plaça Major is the heart of the town: a large, irregular square shaded by enormous plane trees, with the parish church of Nostra Senyora dels Àngels at one end and cafés around the edges. On any normal day it is a pleasant place to drink a coffee.
On Sunday mornings the square and the surrounding streets fill with one of the best weekly markets on Mallorca — pottery, leather, food stalls, fruit and vegetable producers, and the usual scattering of cheap clothes and trinkets. It runs from about 8am until lunchtime and gets crowded in summer; arrive early.
