Port de Pollença — Puerto Pollensa to most British visitors — is the beach resort six kilometres east of the old town. It curves around a long sheltered bay, with a sandy beach running for most of its length and the Pine Walk (Passeig Anglada Camarasa) along the shore as the prettiest promenade on the north of the island.
It is more sedate than the bigger Mallorcan resorts, popular with sailors, walkers, and an older British crowd that has been coming for decades. Restaurants, bars, and bike-hire shops cluster behind the promenade. The water in the bay is calm and shallow — good for kids, dull for serious swimming.
