The Basque Museum, founded in 1921, covers the archaeology, ethnography, and history of Euskadi from its Casco Viejo base. It is not Bilbao's slickest museum, but it is useful if you want context for Basque identity, rural traditions, and the older layers of the city before heading back into the old town streets.
