The Doña Casilda Iturrizar Park, adjacent to the Museo de Bellas Artes, is Bilbao's finest public garden — a late 19th-century design with formal paths, a duck pond, fountains, and enormous plane trees that provide shade in summer. It is named for a local philanthropist who donated the land to the city.
The park serves as the green lung between the Ensanche district and the Guggenheim waterfront, and on warm evenings it fills with families, joggers, and people simply sitting on the benches. A small bandstand hosts occasional concerts. After spending time at the Guggenheim or the Bellas Artes museum, a walk through the park is a good way to decompress.
