Laguardia has no train station and minimal bus connections — a car is the practical choice for most visitors.
By car is by far the most common approach. From Vitoria-Gasteiz the drive takes about 30 minutes via the A-3210 (approximately 30km). From Logroño it's even closer — 17km, around 20 minutes via the N-232 and LR-111. From Bilbao allow about an hour on the AP-68 motorway (approximately 100km). Parking is available outside the old town walls; cars are not permitted inside.
By bus, Alsa operates infrequent services between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Laguardia, taking around 40 minutes. Services are limited, especially at weekends, so check current timetables carefully before relying on the bus. From Logroño there are occasional services but the timetable is not reliable for day visits.
Nearest airports are Vitoria-Gasteiz Airport (VIT), about 40km away but with very limited scheduled services; Bilbao Airport (BIO), about 110km away with good connections; and Logroño–Agoncillo Airport (RJL), about 25km away with very limited services. For most international visitors, Bilbao is the practical choice.
