Lagunas de Laguardia

A cluster of seasonal and permanent wetland lagoons just east of the town, protected as a nature reserve. The lagunas attract migrating and resident waterbirds year-round, with herons, coots, grebes, and ducks common, and waders stopping during spring and autumn passage. The contrast between the vine-covered hillside above and the reed-fringed water below is striking. An easy circular trail around the lagoons takes about an hour and is walkable from the town gate. Birdwatching is best in early morning and can be combined with a walk back up through the vineyards.
