Fuerteventura is a large island by Canary standards and public transport is limited, so a rental car is the practical choice if you want to explore beyond your resort. Roads are good and traffic is light outside Puerto del Rosario.
Bus services (guaguas) connect the main towns — Corralejo, Puerto del Rosario, Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma, and Morro Jable — but frequencies drop sharply in the evenings and on weekends. The Tiadhe bus company runs the island network. For the interior villages and western coast, you will need your own wheels.
Ferries run from Corralejo to Lanzarote (about 25 minutes) and from Morro Jable to Gran Canaria. Small boats to Isla de Lobos depart from Corralejo harbour several times a day, though visitor numbers to the island are capped so booking ahead is wise.
