El Anzuelo

El Anzuelo ("The Hook") sits on the old harbour front, the kind of plain, no-nonsense seafood restaurant that has been feeding the fishing community for decades. The menu focuses on what came in that day — grilled fish, fried squid, seafood rice. The terrace tables overlook the small harbour and the boats that still work this part of the coast.

Prices are reasonable by Lanzarote standards and the cooking is straightforward but honest. This is not a gastronomy destination; it is a place to eat fresh fish at a table by the water. Order the lapas (limpets) if they are on the menu — grilled on a hot plate with butter and lemon, they are a Canarian staple and one of the better things you can eat in the islands.
