Marina Rubicón sits at the western end of Playa Blanca, a purpose-built harbour that opened in the early 2000s and has a slightly more polished feel than the old fishing port on the other side of town. The marina hosts a mix of sailing yachts and charter boats, and its quayside is lined with restaurants and cafes — seafood and grilled fish dominate the menus. The boats offer fishing trips, whale-watching excursions, and glass-bottom boat tours of the Papagayo coastline; you can book most of them directly from the dock.
The marina is also the departure point for some of the diving excursions to the Museo Atlántico. In the evenings it becomes one of the liveliest spots in Playa Blanca, which is not saying a huge amount — the resort is genuinely quiet by most standards — but the waterfront here has a pleasant atmosphere and the sunset views over the harbour are better than those from the main beach.
