The Fundación César Manrique occupies the artist's former home at Tahíche, built into a field of black volcanic lava just outside Teguise. Manrique turned natural lava bubbles into whitewashed rooms, courtyards, pools, and galleries, creating the clearest statement of the aesthetic that shaped modern Lanzarote.
The visit is part museum, part architectural walk-through. Works by Manrique hang alongside pieces by artists such as Picasso and Miró, but the building itself is the main exhibit: a reminder that Lanzarote's best design often comes from working with the island's volcanic landscape rather than hiding it.
