Getting There

La Palma Airport (SPC) is 7 km south of Santa Cruz de La Palma. Binter Canarias and Iberia fly from Gran Canaria, Tenerife Norte, and Madrid; in summer there are additional European charters from Germany and the UK. Flying time from Madrid is about 2.5 hours. A taxi from the airport to Santa Cruz takes about 15 minutes; there is also a bus service.

By ferry, Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas run services from Tenerife (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) several times weekly. The crossing takes about two hours on fast ferries and longer on conventional ferries. Bringing a car on the ferry is convenient if you are planning to explore the island — La Palma's mountain roads are narrow and winding, but public transport connections between the main towns are reasonable.
