Tenerife has two airports. Tenerife South (TFS, also known as Reina Sofía) is the main tourist airport, handling most charter and low-cost flights from northern Europe. It sits near the southern resort area. Tenerife North (TFN, Los Rodeos) handles many domestic Spanish flights and some European routes. Depending on where you plan to stay, check which airport is more convenient — the north airport is much closer to Puerto de la Cruz.
Direct flights to Tenerife operate from most major European cities, with the largest volumes from the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. The flight time from London is about four hours. Inter-island ferries connect Tenerife to the other Canary Islands from the port of Santa Cruz; Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas operate the main routes. A fast ferry to La Gomera runs from Los Cristianos in the south.
