The biggest urban park in Castilla-La Mancha and the green lung of Albacete, the Parque Abelardo Sánchez stretches across 12 hectares of mature trees, ponds, palms and rose beds a short walk south of the cathedral. Locals call it simply el parque; it holds a duck-filled pond, a small open-air theatre, a children's traffic-education circuit and the Provincial Museum.
Pleasant for a quiet hour, especially in summer when the rest of the city bakes in the sun. The northern end has a couple of kiosks selling cold beer and granizado (slush ice).
