Sa Palomera

Rocky headland and viewpoint traditionally marking the southern beginning of the Costa Brava

Sa Palomera is the rocky outcrop that divides Blanes' waterfront and gives the town its symbolic role as the gateway to the Costa Brava. A short stairway leads up the rock, with views back over the harbour, the long beach of S'Abanell, and the mouth of the Tordera.

It is a quick visit, but it belongs near the top of a Blanes walk because it is so tied to the town's identity. Go early for empty views or at dusk, when the promenade fills and the rock becomes a natural balcony over the bay.
