PortAventura World

PortAventura World is a large resort complex straddling the boundary between Salou and Vila-seca, about 2 km from the beach. The main theme park divides into themed areas — the Mediterranean, Polynesia, the American Far West, Mexico, and China — each with its own rides, restaurants, and entertainment. Dragon Khan, the park's signature roller coaster, was Europe's most inversions record holder when it opened.

The resort has expanded significantly since its 1995 opening. Ferrari Land — a separate park within the complex — houses Red Force, one of Europe's fastest and tallest roller coasters. A water park, three hotels, and a convention centre complete the complex. Day tickets are expensive but multi-day passes offer better value, particularly if you are staying in Salou for a week.

A story
PortAventura opened in 1995 and was the first major international-standard theme park in Spain. The site straddles two municipalities — Salou and Vila-seca — and its construction effectively transformed Salou from a modest fishing and beach resort into one of the Costa Daurada's primary tourist destinations.
