Masia Freixa is the centrepiece of Terrassa's modernisme heritage and the first thing every visitor is shown. A white stuccoed building with parabolic arches and a barrel-tiled roof, the structure stands out across the Parc de Sant Jordi like a piece of Gaudí transplanted into the suburbs. Architect Lluís Muncunill borrowed liberally from Antoni Gaudí, but the result feels distinct: more horizontal, more domestic.
Inside, the original ironwork, ceramics and trencadís (mosaic) survive in good condition. The building is open to the public free of charge and houses the municipal tourist office, plus a small permanent exhibition on Catalan modernisme. The park around it is pleasant and a popular wedding photography spot. Hours are limited on Sundays; check before travelling.
