Terrassa has two strong claims on a visitor's time. The first is the early-medieval church complex of Sant Pere — three Visigothic and Romanesque churches with wall paintings that survive from the 7th to the 12th century, one of the most important ensembles of its kind in Europe. The second is Catalan modernisme: the city's textile fortune produced a remarkable concentration of Art Nouveau buildings, including the Masia Freixa with its parabolic arches. Add a vast science and industry museum, a textile museum, and a satisfying medieval old town, and you have a day or two of substance.
