Museum of Leather Artistry

The Museu de l'Art de la Pell (Museum of Leather Artistry) is devoted to the decorative and applied arts of leather — an unusual subject for a museum, and one that turns out to be far more interesting than it sounds. The collection, housed in a refurbished convent of El Carme, was assembled by the Colomer Munmany family and spans centuries of international leatherwork: gilded Spanish cordobán, Moroccan book bindings, European ceremonial items, and contemporary design.

Vic has a long tradition in the leather trade, and the museum places the local industry in a wider context of craft history. The building alone — a former convent with a fine courtyard — is worth a visit. This is one of Vic's less-visited but genuinely rewarding museums.
