Casa Benito is the kind of unreconstructed bar-restaurant that every Spanish town needs and many have lost — tiled walls, bullfighting photographs, dark wood, a long zinc bar at the front, a dining room at the back. The kitchen does Extremaduran home cooking without apology: cabrito (kid) roasted with garlic, migas extremeñas, fried Iberian pork, and any number of cured meats by the plate.
Eat at the bar if there's room and order racions to share. The wine list is regional and mostly cheap. Service can be brusque on busy nights — that's the house style, not personal. Don't miss the Torta del Casar starter, served warm with a spoon and bread.
