Rex Numitor — named for the mythological king who, in Roman legend, restored order to Latium — is a small, contemporary restaurant on Calle Castelar, a few steps from the Templo de Diana. The kitchen takes Extremaduran products and treats them carefully: pork cheeks in red wine, Iberian secreto with sweet potato, fresh fish from the Atlantic coast despite the long inland drive.
The dining room is small and the prices reasonable for the quality. Bookings advised. The set lunch menu is one of the best deals in town for a sit-down meal at the higher end.
