Building Sarmiento was begun around 1695 and completed in 1714. Its flat façade is flanked by pilasters with a shield, and the cloister with large granite pilasters is typically Galician in scale. The semibasements with arcades suggest a Roman foundation. It holds galleries for temporary exhibitions, rupestrian engravings, Roman epigraphy, folk Galician pottery, music, and 18th-century Galician art.
