Vilalba is on the A-8 motorway between Lugo and Ferrol, about 35 kilometres north of Lugo. The drive from Lugo takes around 25 minutes; from A Coruña, about 75 minutes via the AP-9 and N-634.
Buses connect Vilalba with Lugo several times daily; the journey takes about 45 minutes. There is no train service. Lugo is the nearest city with a rail connection to the rest of Spain, so most visitors arrive by car or bus from Lugo.
