The Terra Chá has a mild Atlantic climate, warmer and drier than the coast but still prone to rain year-round. Summer (June–August) is the most reliable for dry weather and the best time for exploring the Castro de Viladonga and walking in the countryside. Spring and autumn are good for the landscape, though rain is frequent.
December is the most distinctive time to visit if your dates are flexible: the Feira do Capón fills Vilalba's market square in the week before Christmas with an atmosphere unlike anything else in inland Galicia. The rest of winter is quiet and often grey, with frost on the plateau.
