The Museo Arqueológico de Lorca occupies the Casa de los Salazar, a beautifully restored early 17th-century mansion built around a central courtyard. The collection traces the long human occupation of the Guadalentín valley, with material from Bronze Age Argaric settlements, Iberian and Roman sites, and the medieval Islamic period.
The highlights include painted Argaric ceramics, fine Islamic glazed pottery, and a small but engaging set of Roman mosaics and inscriptions. The museum is good value, almost always uncrowded, and easily combined with the nearby churches and the climb to the castle.
