Serra Gelada Natural Park

Limestone cliffs and lighthouse walks on the cape south of Altea

Serra Gelada is the dramatic limestone headland immediately south of Altea, protecting the town's bay and forming a natural boundary with the resort sprawl of Benidorm. The park covers the cape and its clifftops, rising to sheer drops over the Mediterranean and offering views back along the coast to Altea's blue-domed church and north toward Calpe's Peñón de Ifach.

The main walk follows the old lighthouse road to the Far de l'Albir lighthouse, a gentle 3-km trail through scrubland that opens onto exposed clifftop terrain at the top. The lighthouse itself dates from 1863 and can be visited. Below the cliffs, the transparent water draws snorkellers and kayakers in summer — boat trips from Altea marina circle the cape and access sea caves unreachable on foot.
