Elche is well connected for a city of its size. Alicante-Elche airport is about 20 minutes by taxi or bus, making it easy to fly in directly rather than connecting through Valencia or Madrid. Regular trains run from Alicante (about 20 minutes, on the TRAM metropolitan line) and from Murcia (around 40 minutes by regional rail). From Madrid, the high-speed AVE to Alicante takes about 2.5 hours, with Elche just a short hop beyond. The town centre is compact enough to walk, but the outlying sites — particularly La Alcudia — need a car or taxi.
