Getting Around

Malmö is a cyclist's city. The flat terrain, excellent cycling infrastructure, and compact centre make a bike the best way to get around. Rental bikes are widely available, and the city has clear cycle lanes on most main roads. You can reach most sights, the beach at Ribersborg, and the Western Harbour comfortably by bike.

The city bus network (operated by Skånetrafiken) is efficient and covers the whole municipality. Trams are not used in Malmö, but buses run frequently on the main routes. A single journey costs around 35 SEK; a 24-hour pass is more economical for multiple trips. The same Skånetrafiken ticket covers regional trains to Lund, Helsingborg, and other Skåne towns.

Walking is viable in the city centre — the old town, Lilla Torg, and Stortorget are within easy walking distance of each other. Taxis and ride-hailing (Uber and local apps) are available but rarely necessary unless you're going to the suburbs.
