Café Vatten (Water Café) sits right at the edge of the Motala Ström, with an outdoor terrace where in summer you can sit above the water with a coffee and watch the falls. In winter it retreats indoors behind large glass windows that keep the view intact. It serves good coffee, pastries, and a simple lunch menu of open sandwiches and soups.
The café is one of the most pleasant places to sit in Norrköping and is a favourite with university students working on laptops as well as tourists taking a break from the mill museums. It is busy at lunchtime but usually has space; arrive early if you want the river-view seats on the terrace.
