Grimeton Radio Station

UNESCO-listed 1920s longwave radio station with giant antenna towers and working pre-electronic transmitter equipment.

Grimeton Radio Station is the reason technology-minded travelers should not write Varberg off as just a seaside town. Built in the 1920s, the site preserves a longwave radio station used for early transatlantic wireless communication, including its antenna system and rare working machine transmitter.

The six tall towers are visible long before you reach the visitor area. Go when tours are running, because the guides make the old equipment easier to understand and explain why UNESCO treats the station as more than industrial nostalgia.
