Vallby Open-Air Museum

Vallby is a well-preserved open-air folk museum on the northern edge of the city, with around 40 historic buildings relocated from across Västmanland to create a working farm settlement spanning several centuries. The buildings range from 17th-century farmhouses to industrial-era workshops, giving a genuine picture of rural Swedish life before industrialisation.

The museum runs seasonal activities — bread baking in the old bakery, demonstrations of traditional crafts, and guided tours. In summer it becomes genuinely lively, with animals in the farmyard and costumed interpreters in some buildings. The park setting is pleasant even outside the heritage structures, and the café in the main building serves traditional Swedish pastries.
