Basel Zoo, affectionately called Zolli, is one of the city’s classic institutions and unusually easy to reach for a major zoo. It sits close to the centre, with mature landscaping, strong aquarium and animal houses, and a layout that makes it feel more like a city park than a suburban attraction.
It is especially useful for families, but adults with an interest in animal collections will find it more substantial than a filler activity.
