La Fromagerie is Leysin's classic restaurant for fondue and cheese soup, set in a converted dairy building in the centre of the village. The dining room keeps the old fromagerie equipment — copper cauldrons, wooden milk vats — as decoration, and the menu sticks to the cheese-and-charcuterie repertoire it does well: half a dozen styles of fondue, raclette by the half-wheel, alpine ham, and the house cheese soup that warms up a winter night.
It is the most reliable spot in town for a long evening meal after a day on the mountain. Booking in winter is advisable.
