Martigny is on the main SBB rail line connecting Geneva and Lausanne with the Simplon Pass route to Italy. Direct trains run frequently from Lausanne (about 1 hour) and from Geneva (about 1h 15 minutes). From Martigny, the Mont Blanc Express narrow-gauge railway runs to Chamonix in France. By car, Martigny is reached from Lausanne via the A9 motorway (about 50 minutes). The A9 continues east through the Valais toward Sierre, Visp, and the Simplon tunnel.
