The cable car from the upper edge of Wengen up to the Männlichen reopened in 2022 after a complete rebuild — the cabins are larger, the ride is faster (under six minutes), and the station at the bottom is a short walk from the village. It is the principal way up the mountain in both winter and summer.
In summer it gives quick access to the ridge walk to Kleine Scheidegg. In winter it feeds the upper ski area. The earliest cabins of the day, before the crowds, are worth catching: the light on the Eiger between 8 and 9 am is the best of the day.
