The Claw is the crane gripper used to move radioactive debris after the Chernobyl disaster. It sits in Pripyat as one of the zone's more unsettling artefacts: ordinary industrial equipment turned into a warning object by what it handled.
Guides often point it out because it is still associated with high contamination and should not be touched. As with the rest of Pripyat, it is a place to visit only within the rules and safety limits of an authorised Chernobyl trip.
