Big Khan Mosque

Largest and oldest mosque of the Khan's Palace complex

Address Khan's Palace, Bakhchysarai

The principal mosque of the Khan's Palace, built in 1532 under Sahib I Giray. The exterior is restrained — square plan, two slender minarets, sloping tiled roof — while the interior is decorated with painted floral panels and a deep mihrab carved with Quranic inscriptions. The royal box on the upper gallery, where the Khan prayed concealed from common worshippers, is the most distinctive feature.

The mosque is still consecrated and used for occasional services; visitors should dress modestly and remove their shoes. It is included in the standard Khan's Palace ticket and visited as part of the palace tour. The minarets can be climbed during select open days only.
