The Khan's Palace is the obvious centrepiece, but Bahchisaray rewards a longer stay. The cliff-top cave city of Chufut-Kale and the rock-cut Dormition Monastery are within an hour's walk of the centre, and a handful of old Crimean Tatar mosques and madrasas survive in the old quarter. The town is also the gateway to several other cave cities and to the Crimean mountains beyond.
