Salgir River Embankment

The Salgir is Crimea's longest river — rising in the Crimean mountains and flowing through Simferopol on its way to the Sea of Azov. Its embankment through the city is the most agreeable stretch of green space in town: cottonwood-shaded paths, benches, a few cafés on the upper bank, and footbridges crossing back and forth.

The river itself is not much more than a shallow stream most of the year, but the parkland alongside is where locals walk dogs, push prams, and meet friends. Several Soviet-era memorial sculptures stand along the route. A good early-evening stroll to escape the traffic noise of the main streets.
