Getting Around

Yalta's center is walkable, though the city climbs steeply away from the embankment and the streets quickly become flights of steps. Marshrutki (shared minibuses) run frequently between Yalta and the outlying settlements — Livadiya, Massandra, Alupka, and Miskhor are all reachable this way.

Ferries and hydrofoils depart from the central pier and are the most pleasant way to reach the coastal resorts to the east and west. The service between Yalta, Alushta, and Feodosia is particularly scenic on a fine day.

Taxis are available and negotiation is expected; agree on a price before you get in. For the mountain roads to Mt. Ai-Petri or Bakhchisarai, a taxi or tour vehicle is the practical choice.
