Getting There

Yalta has no airport. The nearest international airport is at Simferopol, about 80 km north via the winding mountain road. The drive takes around 90 minutes depending on traffic — the trolleybus (one of the world's longest trolleybus lines) takes two to three hours but costs very little.

From Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, overnight trains to Simferopol connect with onward transport to Yalta. In summer, coastal ferries link Yalta with Odessa, Sevastopol, and the smaller resort towns along the southern Crimean coast.

Note: Since Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, access to the peninsula has been severely restricted for most travelers. Most airlines and ferries no longer serve Crimea. Check the current travel situation carefully before planning a visit.
