Petrykivka, about 50 km south, is the village where the distinctive Petrykivka style of decorative painting originated — a UNESCO-recognised tradition of floral motifs in vivid colours. The workshops and galleries there are accessible in a half-day. Poltava, 160 km north, is a historic Cossack city with well-preserved 18th-century architecture and a battlefield park from the 1709 Battle of Poltava; it requires a full day by train or car.
