When to Go

Dnipro has a continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. May through September is the most pleasant time to visit — summer temperatures reach 25–30°C and the riverfront parks and embankment are at their best. The Dnieper beaches on Monastyrsky Island attract locals from June onward.

Winter (November through February) is cold, with temperatures regularly below freezing and occasional snow.

The Free Dance International Festival of Contemporary Dance and Performance, held annually in April and May, is the largest of its kind in Ukraine and brings international contemporary dance companies to the city's theatres. City Day (usually May) marks the founding of the city with concerts and celebrations along the embankment. Dnipro has a historically significant Jewish community — one of the largest in Ukraine — and Jewish cultural events centred on the Menorah Center are held periodically throughout the year.
