Seven white marble towers rise above the city centre in the unmistakable shape of a seven-branched menorah. The Menorah Center, completed in 2012, is one of the largest Jewish community complexes in the world — around 50,000 square metres of space spread across towers reaching twenty stories high. Conceived by the local Chabad rabbi and funded by Ukrainian-Israeli oligarchs, it reflects the size and ambition of Dnipro's Jewish community, one of the most substantial in Ukraine.
Inside the complex are museums, educational institutes, kosher restaurants, a hotel, and event spaces, all centred on the historic Golden Rose Synagogue. Even if you don't enter, the building itself is striking — a monument to a community whose history in this part of Ukraine stretches back centuries, through the Pale of Settlement, through the Holocaust, through Soviet suppression, and into a confident post-independence revival.
