Cathedral of the Resurrection

The Greek Catholic cathedral, a few hundred metres north-west of the Rynok, is the main religious building of Ivano-Frankivsk — a yellow neoclassical block with twin bell towers, built between 1729 and 1763 for the Jesuits and reassigned to the Greek Catholic church after the Soviet collapse.

The interior is unexpectedly grand: a baroque iconostasis (added in the 1990s), a long marble nave, and a daily liturgy in Ukrainian. There is usually someone in for quiet prayer. Photography is discouraged during services — wait, or come outside hours.
