The old town packs almost everything into a fifteen-minute walking radius of the Market Square — a Habsburg-era town hall, a pair of remarkable churches, a regional art museum housed in a former Catholic cathedral, and the pedestrianised Hrushevsky Street where the city goes for coffee and a long walk.
A note: Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022 changed the rhythm of the city without flattening any of these buildings. Cafés still open, museums still operate, but expect occasional air-raid alerts and check the current state of travel before you go.
