Ivano-Frankivsk eats well and cheaply. Galician cuisine — borscht, varenyky, deruny (potato pancakes), grilled river fish, Carpathian banosh — is the local specialty, alongside a strong café-culture offering coffee, cakes and bistros pitched at students. Prices remain among the lowest of any sizeable Ukrainian city; a proper sit-down dinner for two with wine is rarely above €25.
