Kropyvnytskyi rewards unhurried exploration. The city's main draws are its 18th-century fortress earthworks, the Theatre of the Krop Foundation, and its role as the birthplace of professional Ukrainian-language theatre. The central park and riverside Inhul provide pleasant walking, and the city's 19th-century streetscapes in the historic centre give a sense of provincial Ukraine before it was modernised out of existence.
