Day Trips

Yaremche works as a base for the eastern Ukrainian Carpathians. Mount Hoverla, the highest peak in Ukraine, is a long but accessible day climb from the trailhead at Zaroslyak, about 60 kilometres south. Bukovel, Ukraine's largest ski resort, is 30 kilometres south by road; in summer the gondola runs to a high meadow with good views and easier walking. Smaller Hutsul villages — Vorokhta, Mykulychyn, Kryvorivnia — sit along the road south and are worth stopping in for the wooden churches and the working sheep farms.
